Research Summary
I am interested in the structure and phase behavior of the solid-liquid
and liquid-vapor interfaces. Using the high brightness, focused, monochromatic
radiation availabe at synchrotron sources, I investigate the structure
of these complex interfaces. The two techniques most commonly employed
are x-ray reflectivity and grazing incent angle diffraction. My studies
are carried out at our group's NSLS beam lines
operates (X22A,X2B, and X22C) or at the CMC CAT at the APS (Argonne).
Current research interests inlcude thin organic films (silane films on
solid supports and biological films at the water interface), liquid metals
and liquid alloy surfaces, surface freezing in alkanes, and electrochemical
interfaces.
